Yes it’s finally spring and the current mens fashions are like a summer dream – all pop pastels and soft hues. Mint greens, pale pinks and mellow yellows seem to be everywhere and we love it, it makes us think of a day at the coast with ice cream and brightly coloured beach huts. Being floral devotees ourselves we are totally obsessed with Gucci’s spring/summer collection and it’s nice to see bigger and bolder floral prints coming out everywhere.. long may it continue! WESC, Anerkjendt and Afield have some great hawaiian shirts out that won’t make you think of middle aged men on holiday, it’s more of a relaxed and authentic 1950s vibe which is perfect for Spring. Another colour popping up everywhere is white/sand, which Valentino and Missoni do beautifully, whereas Gucci have got pink covered and Hermes have got the yellow palette down to a tee. There’s a 90s grunge vibe going on in some circles too not to mention this unusual oversized shoulders and oversized trousers which we can’t really work out.. more interesting is the ‘internal man of travel’ vibe everywhere featuring parkas, anoraks, backpacks and waterproofs, see Dior and Prada who have nailed this look. We don’t mind the cropped trousers and PJ collar shirts, but we love the vertical stripes we’ve seen in various widths and mixtures which give a Brideshead Revisted simplicity to suiting, it makes you think of deckchairs as Lou Dalton and Fendi show off perfectly. In tailoring itself there are lots of fresh takes on the prince of wales check and something is going on known as the ‘pinstripe revival’ which reminds us of Paul Smith at its best, basically you can’t go wrong!
