Yes it’s that time of year again where Christmas is creeping up on us, loudly and deliberately and despite some of us resisting we being drawn into the world of presents, plans and even more prominently- parties. What to wear to the Christmas do is no doubt a common topic of conversation around the office (or wherever you work) and whatever your thoughts on this we have one word for you- Velvet. Party=Velvet, velvet=Party. Didn’t you know that Velvet was so in this winter? Well you do now.

Velvet is a sartorial staple. Armani, Burberry, Oliver Spencer and Balmain have been using velvet in their collections this year in vintage/1970s inspired looks and Velvet is officially cool again. We have a delicious velvet range online in four festive tones- emerald green, burgundy wine, midnight navy and jet black, available in both tie and bow-tie so you are spoilt for choice. The wonderful thing about our collection is they are hand made here in England which is a slow and meticulous task as Velvet is a more complex material to work with- being too think for a machine, therefore all our velvet pieces are entirely hand made.Typically velvet is woven with a dense pile as a thickness is natural for this fabric, real velvets like ours are woven in the original way from silk or cotton whereas cheaper options will use synthetics like polyester or nylon. It is the silk which helps give Velvet its lush softness, after all the term ‘velvety’ means “soft like velvet”. We love the look of an entire velvet suit, there is something so dapper and gentlemen’s club about it, but if you feel that’s too much just rock the tie or bow and you’ll be the coolest chap at your Christmas party we promise.
