Last week, we took a trip down to Kent with our photographer Denisa to visit our manufacturers and see the production process of our new stock in person. The team at Mustard are always incredibly kind and welcoming and made us feel right at home…
Whilst on the Italy adventure we had the opportunity to spend some time with an Italian fabric supplier who not only sell the most incredible fabrics in Florence but also produce their own range of men’s accessories – mainly bow-ties and pocket squares, all lovingly handmade.
Dancys ties, bow ties and pocket squares are all made in England by our trusted manufacturer based in Kent. They are really lovely people who do a great job for us, but unfortunately, like all good things they are in high demand, and as a result are fully booked for the next couple of months.
The idea to set up a small British menswear brand began a long time ago when Dancys “creative director” (we like to use these big names!) was studying menswear design at university. There was much less colour on the menswear scene then so it didn’t take much for the brand leading the way with colour to make an impact.
Our beautiful ties, bow ties and pocket squares arrived a couple of weeks ago and while they have been sitting patiently in boxes in Dancys HQ, we have been getting ready for the photo shoots.
From the beginning we knew we wanted to keep an authentic Britishness to both our design and manufacture. Not only because our ties, bow ties and pocket squares are traditionally associated with gentlemen and being dapper and is therefore very ‘British’, but also because we felt it was important as a new company to support British industries and that it was something our customer would value and appreciate (as we do!).
Our design space currently consists of a desk, a laptop and a giant sized pin-board overflowing with imagery, drawings and inspiration. There is a variety of fabric samples hanging up and a bunch of post-it notes on the wall to remind us of things we need to do!
Dancys is slowly and surely coming along. We have the stock and are eagerly anticipating our photo shoot, in the meantime we are trying to organise other important matters such as our packaging.
